U.S. Open Entry Lists Confirmed
The official entry lists for the men’s and women’s singles at the 2026 U.S. Open have been confirmed following the entry deadline, which coincided with the release of the latest ATP and WTA rankings. The tournament is scheduled to take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York, from August 30 to September 13.
Among the notable players in the men’s field are Carlos Alcaraz, ranked No. 3, and Holger Rune, ranked No. 80. While their inclusion on the initial entry list does not guarantee participation, neither player has withdrawn at this stage. Alcaraz has been recovering from a wrist injury and has not competed since the Barcelona Open in April. He had previously reached the final at the Monte-Carlo Masters. Although he was recently cleared to resume tennis activities with the aim of playing in Cincinnati and New York, his exact status remains unclear. He has already withdrawn from the first hard-court Masters 1000 event in Montreal.
Rune has been sidelined since October 2025 due to a ruptured Achilles’ tendon sustained at the Stockholm ATP 250. The Danish player had considered returning earlier in the summer on either grass or clay courts but opted for a cautious approach with his comeback timeline.
Former Champions and Protected Rankings
The entry lists feature prominent players, including Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner, both world No. 1s and past U.S. Open champions. Sabalenka, who won the women’s title in 2024 and 2025, is aiming to become the first woman since Serena Williams (2012-2014) to secure three consecutive U.S. Open singles titles. Sinner won the men’s title in 2024. The fields collectively include 17 former Grand Slam singles champions, with 11 women and six men, and 10 former U.S. Open champions.
A total of eight players will be utilising special or protected rankings to enter the main draw. This group includes Thanasi Kokkinakis, who is using a protected ranking of No. 84, and Lois Boisson, with a protected ranking of No. 38. Other players using protected rankings are Juncheng Shang (No. 56), Irina-Camelia Begu (No. 82), Aoi Ito (No. 87), Jill Teichmann (No. 89), Mananchaya Sawangkaew (No. 100), and Filip Misolic (No. 101).
Australian Contingent and Tournament Schedule
The Australian contingent in the men’s main draw includes Alex de Minaur, James Duckworth, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Rinky Hijikata, and Adam Walton. Players such as Aleksandar Vukic (No. 102) and Alexei Popyrin (No. 104) are just outside the main draw cutoff. Additionally, Dane Sweeny, Chris O’Connell, Tristan Schoolkate, Alex Bolt, and Bernard Tomic are listed in the qualifying draw, with a reciprocal wildcard yet to be confirmed.
For the women’s main draw, Australian players include Daria Kasatkina, Kimberly Birrell, Talia Gibson, Maya Joint, and Ajla Tomljanovic. Taylah Preston, Emerson Jones, Maddison Inglis, Priscilla Hon, and Storm Hunter are in the qualifying rounds, with one reciprocal wildcard expected for the women’s field as well.
The U.S. Open singles main draws are set to commence on Sunday, August 30. The tournament schedule includes various sessions at different stadiums. The first round of men’s and women’s singles will be played from Sunday, August 30 to Monday, August 31. The second round is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2 and Friday, September 4. The third round will take place on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6. The Round of matches are set for Monday, September 7 and Tuesday, September 8. Quarterfinal matches will be held on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9. The women’s singles semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m. at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The women’s doubles final and men’s singles semifinals will occur on Friday, September 11, starting at 12 p.m. at Arthur Ashe Stadium, with the men’s singles semifinals continuing at 7 p.m. The men’s doubles final and women’s singles final are slated for Saturday, September 12, beginning at 12 p.m. at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The tournament will conclude with the men’s singles final on Sunday, September 13 at 2 p.m. at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
