The redesign of the Gemini app introduces a visually dynamic interface that significantly departs from its previous static design. Google is currently rolling out the update to a limited number of iOS users.

The redesign features a Liquid Glass-style aesthetic on iOS 26. It includes animated backgrounds that react to user input, enhancing overall user interaction. A new ‘plus’ button allows access to additional tools such as images, camera input, and music.

The homepage greeting has also changed to ‘Hi [name], what’s on your mind?’. The model picker is now a dropdown menu located at the top-left corner for easier access. Additionally, the account switcher has been moved to the bottom of the side navigation menu.

Key features:

  • The app will include a unified tools section for AI capabilities like image generation and guided learning.
  • The redesign aims to make the app look more visually pleasing and modern.
  • The new design resembles ChatGPT’s interface, which may ease user transition.

Currently, Android users have not yet received the redesign. Its rollout is expected to be gradual. Observers note that Google I/O is scheduled for May 19 and 20, which could provide further insights into this update.

A Google executive hinted at a visual refresh for Gemini months ago. However, it remains unclear when the redesign will roll out widely or when Android users will gain access.
