WhatsApp is planning to launch a paid subscription called ‘WhatsApp Plus’ soon. This development comes as part of Meta’s strategy to generate subscription revenue from its user base.

As of now, WhatsApp Plus is available for select beta testers on Android. The subscription price is set at about $2.99 per month.

Premium features of WhatsApp Plus include sending premium stickers, changing the app’s theme, choosing a custom app icon, pinning extra chats, getting premium ringtones, and upgrading chat lists. These features aim to enhance the user experience significantly.

But details remain unconfirmed regarding the official release timing of WhatsApp Plus.

In the broader context, iPhone brand loyalty has increased from 90.5% in 2019 to 96.4% in 2026. Currently, 96.4% of iPhone users plan to buy another iPhone, while just 3.6% plan to switch to Android.

Conversely, 13.6% of Android users intend to switch to iPhone. This shift indicates strong brand preferences among consumers.

Apple will reveal iOS 27 and macOS 27 on June 8 at WWDC 2026. These new operating systems will introduce stricter network security requirements for users.

The implications of these requirements are not yet confirmed. Apple has published a support document for IT administrators regarding these changes.

This sequence of events matters for both WhatsApp and Apple as they adapt their services and security measures in a highly competitive market.
