Mohammad Ali was fined 10% of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the PSL Code of Conduct during a playoff match on May 1, 2026. The incident occurred at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, during the 16th over of Islamabad United’s innings.
The breach involved a heated verbal altercation with Mark Chapman. Ali violated Article 2.21 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which addresses conduct that brings the game into disrepute. He pleaded guilty to the offence, which eliminated the need for a formal hearing.
The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Shahid Saikat. Match referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the penalty. Hyderabad Kingsmen won the match against Islamabad United by two runs, securing their place in the PSL 11 final.
Ali has been one of the most consistent performers for the Kingsmen, taking 17 wickets in 11 innings this season. The Kingsmen qualified for the final in their maiden PSL appearance, and they will face Peshawar Zalmi.
This incident underscores the intense emotions present in competitive cricket. Observers expect that such incidents may prompt further scrutiny from the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding player conduct.
