Laufey’s unique blend of jazz and pop is gaining her a rapidly growing global audience. She has won two Grammy Awards for best traditional pop album. Her latest single, ‘Mad Woman’, features a music video filmed in Los Angeles.
The music video has gone viral, showcasing Laufey’s creative style. In one memorable scene, she strikes actor Hudson Williams with a prop fish. Laufey described the experience as “very primal” and said, “It felt good to scream and shout.”
Laufey began learning piano and cello at the age of 4. She later studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Her album ‘A Matter of Time’ explores themes of relationships and personal development.
Her music combines jazz and pop elements, appealing to younger audiences who are less concerned with genre labels. Laufey stated, “I feel so lucky to be a musician nowadays, because genre has never meant less.” Recently, she performed at London’s O2 Arena, further expanding her international presence.
As Laufey continues to grow her fanbase, she remains focused on pushing her artistic boundaries. She noted that the entire album was a challenge to herself to push beyond her artistic walls and to be a little scared.
