WhatsApp Guest Chats Feature: New Messaging Option for Non-Users

whatsapp guest chats feature — PK news

WhatsApp is currently developing a feature called guest chats that allows users to message individuals who do not have a WhatsApp account. This new functionality is being rolled out to a limited number of beta testers on Android and iOS as of March 2026.

With guest chats, users can create an invite link from the ‘Invite a friend’ section or from the bottom of their contacts list. Recipients of this link can access it on either mobile or desktop, giving them the option to download WhatsApp or continue as a guest.

Importantly, guest chats will utilize end-to-end encryption, ensuring that only participants can read the messages exchanged. However, guests will need to enter a name upon joining, which can be a nickname.

Despite these advancements, there are limitations to the guest chats feature. It does not support group chats, media sharing, stickers, voice messages, photos, videos, documents, GIFs, or voice and video calls. Additionally, guest chats will expire after 10 days of inactivity, and guests may not receive notifications for new messages, requiring them to check the chat manually.

Users will have the ability to block guests in the same manner as they would block regular contacts, maintaining control over their interactions. The feature was first spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.22.13, indicating that it has been in development for some time.

As of now, WhatsApp has not announced a wider release date for the guest chats feature, leaving users and analysts curious about its future availability. Details remain unconfirmed.
