The Prime Minister sanctioned an increase of Rs. 19.39 per litre in diesel and Rs. 6.51 per litre for petrol. This increase reflects the government’s ongoing adjustments to fuel pricing amid rising global oil costs.

Consumers pay Rs. 153.55 per litre in combined taxes, levies, and distribution margins on petrol in Pakistan. Taxes account for roughly 32 percent of the final petrol price.

The largest component of petrol pricing is the petroleum levy, which stands at approximately Rs. 103.50 per litre. This levy contributes significantly to government revenue but places a heavy burden on consumers.

In comparison, petrol prices in India on May 3 are ₹94.77 in Delhi and ₹103.54 in Mumbai, showing a stark difference in taxation levels across borders.

In Bhubaneswar, petrol prices decreased by ₹0.09 to ₹100.94 per litre, while in Cuttack, they fell by ₹0.78 to ₹101.19 per litre.

For diesel, Indian prices are ₹87.67 in Delhi and ₹90.03 in Mumbai as of the same date.

In Pakistan, consumers also pay approximately Rs. 116.46 per litre in combined taxes, levies, and margins on diesel.

In Bhubaneswar, diesel prices fell by ₹0.08 to ₹92.52 per litre and dropped by ₹0.75 to ₹92.77 per litre in Cuttack.

This sequence of events underscores the increasing financial strain on consumers who face rising fuel costs alongside various taxation measures imposed by the government.
