The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has halted the transfer of plots amid an ongoing investigation into a significant land scam involving alleged fraudulent allotments. This decision follows the transfer of 6,500 kanals of amenity plots from private housing societies, valued at approximately Rs41 billion.

Key statistics:

6,500 kanals of amenity plots transferred to CDA

Total value of transferred land: Rs41 billion

Estimated market value of public utility component: Rs25.43 billion

4,793 kanal of public and amenity land transferred through mutation

4,500 kanal of land from other housing societies is scheduled for transfer in the coming weeks

22 already allotted plots in Sector D-13 have been halted

60 more plots in Sector D-13 are under review

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) supervises the investigation. It aims to address allegations surrounding the Civil Employees Housing Society, which has remained unresolved for nearly 31 years. NAB officials reported that the process was conducted in close coordination with CDA officials and managements of affected housing societies.

Sources within the CDA’s land directorate indicated that the new alleged scam is worth over Rs1 billion, as one-kanal plots are valued at around Rs25 million in Sector D-13. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to prioritize this probe.

The new CDA management has taken decisive action by stopping further allotment of around 60 additional plots in Sector D-13. The minister congratulated CDA Chairman retired Lt Sohail Ashraf and Member Estate Zaman Wattoo for exposing this corruption scandal, emphasizing that no individual involved in corruption would receive leniency.

NAB’s investigations continue as authorities work to clarify the extent and implications of these allegations. Observers expect further developments as officials gather more information on this significant land scam.
