A meeting on education sector reforms took place under his leadership on April 20, 2026, in Peshawar. The Chief Minister announced a funding allocation of Rs. 500 million for establishing an interdisciplinary research center in the province.

The meeting also highlighted plans to establish community schools in remote areas. This initiative aims to accelerate literacy rates among underserved populations. Additionally, the double-shift school program will expand, introducing IT and AI courses in educational institutions.

Sohail Afridi emphasized the connection between health and education. He stated, “Health and education are directly linked to the public.” This reflects the provincial government’s broader focus on human development, aligned with Imran Khan’s vision.

Participants expressed satisfaction over progress on various initiatives. These include an e-transfer policy, a uniform curriculum, a semester system, monitoring mechanisms, teachers’ training, school-based assessment, virtual schooling, and AI courses.

A coordination committee will be formed to ensure effective implementation of these proposals. The meeting included Education Minister Arshad Ayub, education experts, and senior officials from the education department.

The provincial government has prioritized these sectors for the past five to six months. Early results show positive changes in educational outcomes.

Yet, challenges remain. The ultimate goal is clear: comprehensive transformation within the educational landscape of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
