The attack occurred at around 08:10 am when four unidentified terrorists on two motorcycles opened fire on Idrees’s vehicle. Two police constables were injured during the incident. Idrees succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered at the Mardan CTD police station. The FIR includes sections related to murder and terrorism. CCTV footage and forensic evidence were collected from the crime scene as part of the investigation.

The attackers fled the scene after the assault. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed their grief over Idrees’s killing. Zardari stated, “Such cowardly terrorist acts cannot dampen the resolve of the nation.”
