“The cause of the fire is still unclear,” stated a representative from the Delhi Fire Services, highlighting the ongoing investigation into the incident.

A massive fire broke out at a fish market in Matiala near Uttam Nagar in west Delhi around midnight between Wednesday and Thursday. Approximately 300 to 400 slums were destroyed in the blaze, which has raised concerns among local residents.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, according to officials. The quick response from the fire department was crucial, with 23 fire tenders dispatched to combat the flames.

This incident comes in the wake of recent violence in Uttam Nagar, following the death of 26-year-old Tarun during Holi celebrations. The community is still reeling from that event, making this fire particularly distressing.

In a related incident, 24 people were injured after a fire broke out at an electric meter-manufacturing factory in Noida earlier in the morning. The fire at the factory started between 5:30 am and 5:45 am, leading to a rapid response from emergency services.

Fire department teams successfully rescued about 200 to 250 workers trapped inside the factory, with the injured now undergoing treatment at the district hospital and reported to be out of danger, according to Rajiv Narayan Mishr, Additional Police Commissioner.

The cause of the fire at the factory is also under investigation, adding to the urgency of fire safety discussions in the region.

As the situation develops, authorities are urging the public to refrain from spreading misinformation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh emphasized, “Spreading false rumours is a criminal act and renders one liable to be prosecuted.”
