Shahzaib Bhatti, a 24-year-old cricketer from Sialkot, has announced his decision to leave Pakistan cricket, citing politics, corruption, and a lack of structure as the primary reasons for his departure.

In a heartfelt message, Bhatti expressed his frustrations, stating, “Goodbye Pakistan cricket. Goodbye Pakistan cricket. At 24 years of age I am leaving Pakistan cricket. I won the Quaid E Azam final last year on live television. Since then I’ve been benched for almost 40 games in a row. My only dream is to represent Pakistan. But politics, corruption, lack of structure has ruined my career. And many others I now know why everyone is leaving Pakistan cricket. Goodbye.”

Bhatti played a pivotal role in Sialkot Region’s victory over Peshawar Region in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 final, scoring an unbeaten 32 runs. Despite his contributions, he has faced significant challenges in gaining consistent opportunities within the team.

Over the course of his career, Bhatti has been sidelined for nearly 40 matches, which has raised concerns about the domestic cricket structure in Pakistan. He has participated in only two first-class matches, one List A match, and one T20 match, despite showing promise.

In red-ball cricket, he has taken five wickets, including a notable performance where he claimed five wickets for 236 runs against Lahore Whites in December 2024. His List A debut for Eshaal in the Presidents Cup Grade 1 in 2024 saw him pick up two wickets, while his T20 debut against Rawalpindi resulted in one wicket but with 47 runs conceded in four overs.
