The Supreme Court has decided that tomorrow, Thursday, is the completion of the 30th day of the month of Ramazan, and that Friday is the day of the Blessed Eidul Fitr.

This announcement was made by the Saudi Press Agency, confirming that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on March 20, 2026. The decision follows the moon-sighting committee’s confirmation that the crescent moon was not sighted, indicating the conclusion of Ramazan after 30 days of fasting.

The moon-sighting committee stated, The crescent moon has NOT been sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, #EidAlFitr will be celebrated on Friday, 20th March 2026. This aligns with the Supreme Court’s declaration, marking an important moment for the Muslim community in the region.

Traditionally, Eidul Fitr is a significant celebration that marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and reflection. However, this year’s festivities are overshadowed by the ongoing war in the Middle East, which has affected many aspects of life in the region.

In contrast, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission has predicted that Eidul Fitr would fall on March 21, 2026. The final decision regarding the sighting of the Shawwal crescent will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan.

As the date approaches, many in Saudi Arabia and beyond are preparing for the celebrations, which typically include communal prayers, festive meals, and charitable giving. The announcement from the Supreme Court and the moon-sighting committee provides clarity for those planning their Eid celebrations.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any potential changes to the usual festivities due to the ongoing situation in the region. However, the community remains hopeful for a peaceful and joyous celebration.

With the official date set, families and friends are expected to gather in celebration, embracing the spirit of Eidul Fitr despite the challenges faced in the region.
