Significant Shift to Online Learning

In a critical move, Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that all educational institutions in Punjab will remain closed until March 31, 2026. This decision comes in response to ongoing economic challenges, particularly a petroleum crisis affecting the region.

While physical classes will be suspended, online classes are set to continue, ensuring that students can still engage with their studies remotely. Hayat emphasized that “All Universities, colleges & Schools Will Remain Closed. All Exams/Assessments Will Continue as Per schedule. NOTE= Online Classes are allowed.” This statement underscores the commitment to maintaining educational standards despite the disruptions.

Examinations and Assessments Unaffected

Despite the closures, key assessments will proceed as planned. Grade 8 examinations will be held on schedule, and school-based assessment processes will continue without disruption. Furthermore, board examinations will also follow the previously announced timetable, ensuring that students are not adversely affected by the shift to online learning.

The decision to close schools and universities aligns with broader administrative measures introduced by Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Chief Minister, aimed at addressing the economic pressures stemming from a petroleum shortage linked to regional tensions. Only one essential security vehicle will be permitted to accompany ministers and senior officials during this period.
