The anticipated film Hera Pheri 3 is facing significant legal challenges that are impacting its production timeline. Writer Rohan Shankar has confirmed that he is no longer part of the project due to ongoing legal complications, raising concerns about the film’s future.
Shankar described reports of his exit as “fake news,” but acknowledged the reality of the situation, stating, “I was in talks, and it was supposed to happen, but it didn’t because of legal issues.” He expressed hope that if director Priyadarshan is involved, he might reconsider his participation.
The legal disputes primarily revolve around the rights to the Hera Pheri franchise, with a production house from the South approaching the court over these rights. This legal battle raises questions about whether Hera Pheri 3 can proceed under the existing agreement.
Shankar further elaborated on the complications, noting, “He has to do one film, then write another, then shoot it, so he keeps on going. Now, in that structure, when will Hera Pheri happen and when will all of this be solved?” This indicates a complex web of scheduling and legal issues that could delay the film further.
Director Priyadarshan is currently occupied with other projects, which adds to the uncertainty surrounding the film’s timeline. Additionally, actor Paresh Rawal had previously stepped away from the project earlier this year due to creative differences, further complicating the production.
The film features well-known actors including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, all of whom are expected to bring significant star power to the project. However, with no official updates regarding the film’s progress, fans remain in the dark.
The original Hera Pheri film was released in 2000 and directed by Priyadarshan, becoming a cult classic in Indian cinema. Its sequel, Hera Pheri 2, was released in 2006, and fans have eagerly awaited a third installment.
As it stands, the timeline for Hera Pheri 3 remains uncertain due to ongoing legal matters. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the resolution of these issues and the film’s future direction.
