George Linde has joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga, who has been ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a hamstring injury. Linde, a left-handed batting all-rounder and slow left-arm orthodox bowler, is expected to bolster LSG’s squad as they currently sit in fifth place on the points table with two wins in three matches.
Linde’s signing marks his first involvement in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will join LSG at his reserve price of Rs 1 crore, while Hasaranga was acquired for Rs 2 crore at the auction. Linde has an impressive record in T20 cricket, having played 250 matches, scoring 403 runs and taking 35 wickets in T20 internationals.
With three Tests and four One Day Internationals (ODIs) under his belt for South Africa, Linde’s experience could prove valuable for LSG as they aim to improve their standing in the tournament. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball is seen as a significant asset, especially in the spin department.
As LSG prepares for their upcoming matches, Linde is in line to make his IPL debut, adding depth to the team’s batting and spin options. Observers are keen to see how he integrates into the squad and impacts their performance moving forward.
Hasaranga last played for Rajasthan Royals in the previous season and represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru from 2021 to 2023. His absence will be felt, but Linde’s arrival offers a new opportunity for the team to adapt and strategize accordingly.
