Senator Rubina Khalid Addresses Public Concerns
What recent changes have been made to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)? Senator Rubina Khalid held a live E-Katcheri at the BISP Headquarters to address public concerns and announced significant increases in stipends for beneficiaries.
During the session, 36 callers shared their complaints directly with the Chairperson, highlighting the importance of direct communication between the public and BISP officials.
One of the key announcements was a Rs. 1,000 increase in the quarterly Benazir Kafalat stipend, raising it from Rs. 13,500 to Rs. 14,500. This increase aims to provide better financial support to the beneficiaries.
The disbursement of the increased stipend commenced immediately, ensuring that beneficiaries receive the enhanced support without delay.
Additionally, a Rs. 500 increase in stipends under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif and Benazir Nashonuma programmes was confirmed, further expanding the financial assistance available to families.
Senator Khalid emphasized the importance of verifying full payments and urged beneficiaries to report any unauthorized deductions. “Negligence will not be tolerated,” she stated, reinforcing the commitment to transparency and accountability.
All future payments will be made via SIM-linked wallets, a move designed to streamline the payment process and enhance security for beneficiaries.
Senator Khalid also reiterated that all BISP services, including registration, are completely free. She cautioned that 8171 is the only official BISP number and that messages from any other source should be treated as fake.
Complaints can be lodged through the BISP helpline at 0800-26477, providing beneficiaries with a direct line to address their issues.
As BISP continues to evolve, the focus remains on improving services and ensuring that beneficiaries receive the support they need. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further changes or enhancements to the programme.
