Yang Chi-seung Reflects on Trust
“I shouldn’t trust (people) right now,” said Yang Chi-seung, expressing his disillusionment after suffering significant financial losses due to fraud. Yang, who previously operated a gym, closed his business in July last year after falling victim to a deposit fraud related to the gym’s lease.
In total, Yang has incurred damages amounting to approximately 1.5 billion won, with at least 1 billion won attributed directly to the lease fraud. As he navigates the aftermath of these experiences, he is now preparing to enter the food business, indicating a desire to move forward despite the setbacks.
In a related development, the Altru Health System recently completed the transfer of ownership for CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake, which officially became Altru Hospital Devils Lake on March 1, 2026. This transition is part of a broader strategy to enhance healthcare access across the Lake Region.
Todd Forkel, a representative of Altru Health System, remarked, “This transition represents an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve,” highlighting the organization’s commitment to improving community health services.
Meanwhile, John Lee Chi-kin, president of the Education University of Hong Kong, emphasized the potential of Hong Kong as an international education hub. He stated, “Hong Kong has great potential to become a really attractive hub for international education,” reflecting the city’s aspirations to enhance its educational landscape.
As Yang Chi-seung prepares to launch his new venture, the lessons learned from his past experiences with fraud may shape his approach to business and trust in the future. The developments in healthcare and education in the region also signal a time of change and opportunity for many.
